The 5 Canyons located in southeastern Castro Valley is a master planned development by Centex Builders, started in about 1996 and completed in about 2004. It consists of just over 900 homes nestled in the rolling hills of Castro Valley. There are 5 developments in Five Canyons. They are Gold Creek, Canyon Oaks, Abbeywood, Whispering Oaks and Creekside. A development within this neighborhood that consists of townhomes is called Wildwood. A new Montessori school was built next to the Wildwood development. The elementary school is Independent School. Five Canyons is close to Mission, Highway 880, 92 and 580.
Palomares Hills, is a master planned community located in the northeastern hills of Castro Valley. Palomares Hills was built by Shapel. The homes in this neighborhood were built between 1990 and 2003. There are also Duets and Townhouses available here. The elementary school is Jensen Ranch This community features many homes with beautiful bay area views.
The Columbia neighborhood of Castro Valley is perched on a hilltop in eastern Castro Valley, consisting of about 540 homes, many that enjoy beautiful bay and valley views.
These homes also have close access to the East Bay Regional Park open space, for those that enjoy an active lifestyle. This is a quiet family friendly and diverse neighborhood. The elementary school here is either Vannoy or Proctor.

This park features miles of hiking and bicycle trails. It is located in the north central part of town. The elementary school is Proctor.
The Ridges is located right off Crow Canyon Road in northeastern Castro Valley. It enjoys access to Greenridge Park that offers play areas, dog areas, and fabulous views.
