San Ramon Homes, The Strategies of Selling!

The big decision has been made. You are going to put your San Ramon houses on the market. It’s time to move forward, and think about a different place to live. Great! Time to begin the process and ask yourself what millions before have asked. “Where do I even start??” Here is a little advice from a Realtor who has counseled countless clients. Call your Realtor! Schedule a meeting to discuss the steps involved in this process. This will be a team effort, and this pre-sale huddle will help figure out and schedule what needs to happen when.
There are a few things you can do beforehand to get your home ready to put on the market and make it as appealing as possible to prospective buyers. Try to declutter as much as possible. This is a dual purpose trick. Packing up the non essential items and storing them puts you one step closer to being ready to move out. It also avoids the distraction of your belongings. Clear open spaces allow people to focus on the house itself and envision their things in it instead. A collection of sports memorabilia or porcelain figurines displayed throughout the house could possibly be a turn off to a potential buyer.
Thinking of replacing the carpet before putting the house on the market? Consider the options first. The trend these days seems to be moving away from carpeting and toward other surfaces like laminate, wood or tile. These products are easier to clean, and don’t harbor things like pet hair, dust, and other allergens like carpeting does. If your flooring budget allows, hardwood flooring would be an excellent choice. It adds instant “wow” and value to a home, and you will get a return this investment when the house sells.
Updating the kitchen and bathrooms will give a good return as well. Buyers are drawn to clean bright updated kitchens and bathrooms. Even if it isn’t a complete remodel, fresh paint, faucets, and countertops will make your house more appealing when it comes time to sell. Many folks are more budget conscious today, and prefer not to have to spend additional money (or time) to upgrade these spaces once they move in.
Do a thorough spring cleaning, including windows. Buyers will be put off by dust, cobwebs, and dirty windows. Be sure light fixtures are working properly and dust free. Good lighting is essential when showing your house. Address any odors by airing out the house, or shampooing the carpets if needed. Be sure your bathroom and fixtures are clean. Hard water stains can usually be removed with a little elbow grease and some CLR. Countertops should be clean and free of clutter, and extra appliances should be put away.
Curb appeal is essential. The outside of the home and front yard are the first thing potential buyer will notice. Be sure the yard is mowed and trimmed (if applicable) and tidy. The front entrance should be cobweb free, clean, and swept and the porch light fixture should be clean and lit to make your home more welcoming.
These are just a few ideas to help put you on the path to selling your home. Once you have decided to sell, feel free to email, text, or call with any questions you may have. We are here to help strategize!
